On Saturday, 3 February, 22 members and guests met at 10 a.m. at the Prunetree Shopping Center in Prunedale for a tour of the DeRose Winery Car Collection.
Ranging from a new Corvette to a ’66 MGB, the group departed at 10:30. One member having a flat in the parking lot and their guests staying behind to help and catch up at the winery, the rest of the group headed north on Highway 101, turning on Highway 156 east. From 156 the group then turned on to Union Road just outside of Hollister, and then onto Cienega Road. After a scenic 7-mile drive we arrived at DeRose Winery. After a quick tour of club member, Norm Mitchell’s shop, we proceeded to the car collection.
Cars in the collection included Model T Fords, Grahams, Cadillacs, an MGTF and others. The tour guide explained that everything was for sale, just some are REAL expensive! We proceeded to the winery to sample wine, and afterwards some left to have lunch in San Juan Bautista and others went on to other wineries in the area.
